About Me

I’m K. Gillett. My yearning to travel has burned within me for as long as I can remember. After getting my teaching credential I applied and got accepted to teach in Australia. I had a free ticket home, but decided to return on what the Australians and the English called the overland trail. I took an incredible opportunity to go by yacht from Cairns, Australia to Bali Indonesia, stopping to see many islands, mainly deserted, along the way, as well as visiting two inhabited islands: Thursday Island in Australia and Portuguese Timor. I also took a flight into Calcutta, India and Kathmandu, Nepal. Otherwise I traveled by buses, trains, mopeds, rickshaws, one truck, and a tramp steamer to Singapore. My favorites? Yachts and trains.

Do I ever have stories to tell YOU! Some seem so hilarious in hindsight; I do believe that you will enjoy them, hopefully as much as I love telling these true stories, as perfectly as I can recall.

After five years on the road, I returned to the States, so happy to see the American flag. Eight years later I left for parts unknown to me, Nice, France, and Tunis, Tunisia. Last year I visited Spain and Morocco. The travel bug never leaves me. Hopefully you’ll enjoy as I prepare to roam the world again.

Where will I go? Stay tuned and I’ll lead you through the process.

Happy Travels, My Friends!

    Hey there Newbie Spikey!
(for your info, a Spikey is the term for folk who are part of the clan known to be followers of Uncle Spike 🙂

I wanted to catch up and say “thank you… I really appreciate your ‘follow’ as I for one, know how many interesting and entertaining blogs are out there.”

Blogging since June 2013, my aim is to deliver an eclectic offering of posts, from my ‘point n shoot’ attempts at basic photography, to the sharing of my travel adventures over the decades, as well as day to day happenings here on the farm. Oh, plus a few observations, opinions and lighter-hearted stuff thrown in for good measure.

I normally keep to a couple of posts a day, maybe 3-4 at weekends if I have something special to share. But if you are at a loose end one day, maybe you’ll enjoy trawling through some of my older stuff too. I have added plenty of categories to help in said digging process.

Thanks again and hope you have a great day…
